Choosing to Spend One's Life
So many choices. Thank God for the knitters who fill the basket with hats for the bald ones. The basket has been filled to over flowing on the front counter, 7 east at the University of Washington Hospital. I choose a two-tone green and white crocheted floppy with a four-tier crocheted blossom on the front. I'm trying not to panic and scream "get me out of here." I'm trying not to fight the process but lean into it as I heal. "I like that hat," said Teresa the night nurse. "Great hat," says Andrea the day nurse. My bonnet prompted Dr. Bedelov to say "I like that hat." My spring do.
